The All-In-One CRE Lending & Investing Software Platform

Pacific Life Ends Extended Search for an End-to-End Software Platform Solution

When Pacific Life sought to modernize its commercial real estate lending operations, the organization conducted an extensive evaluation of technology solutions before selecting North Shore Systems. The goal was to implement a single, configurable platform capable of supporting the complete lending lifecycle, from loan origination to construction lending and asset management.

Working closely with Pacific Life’s team, North Shore Systems delivered an enterprise solution tailored to the company’s unique lending processes, creating a unified platform for managing both debt and equity investments while positioning the organization for long-term operational efficiency and growth.

The Challenge

Pacific Life was looking for a comprehensive platform that could support multiple business lines while improving visibility, consistency, and collaboration across departments. Their ideal solution needed to:

  • Support commercial loan origination, underwriting, construction lending, and asset management within one system
  • Accommodate both debt and equity investment workflows
  • Integrate with existing business processes and third-party systems
  • Provide configurable workflows, reporting, and document management
  • Scale alongside the organization’s evolving lending operations
  • Support critical underwriting data such as rent rolls, operating statements, valuations, budgets, and other financial documentation while providing a centralized repository for document management and collaboration

After an extended evaluation of technology solutions, Pacific Life selected North Shore Systems due to its flexible architecture, configurable workflows, and ability to support the full commercial real estate investment lifecycle.

The Solution

Once selected, North Shore Systems worked diligently to configure the platform to align with Pacific Life’s established lending processes. The implementation included an integrated solution supporting loan origination through asset management within a single platform. Custom workflows were designed to guide users through each stage of the lending lifecycle, from initial opportunity evaluation and underwriting through approvals, closing, funding, and ongoing portfolio management.

The solution also provided configurable underwriting templates, automated document generation, centralized file management, and borrower collaboration through a secure third-party portal where borrowers could share documentation such as rent rolls, financial statements, and draw requests. Additional capabilities implemented as part of the project included customizable dashboards, workflow automation, sponsor tracking, portfolio allocation reporting, and integrations with existing business systems to streamline daily operations. The solution also empowered Pacific Life administrators to manage business rules, security, user access, and workflow updates internally, allowing the platform to evolve alongside changing business needs.

Managing the Transition

Successful enterprise software implementations require more than technology, they require a thoughtful transition strategy. North Shore Systems partnered closely with Pacific Life throughout the implementation process to configure workflows, map existing business processes, support system integrations, and prepare users for adoption.

As part of the implementation, the platform was configured to support Pacific Life’s existing lending programs, customizable workflows, document generation, approval processes, and reporting requirements while integrating with existing systems such as Yardi and legacy data sources where appropriate. The project included administrator training, end-user training, and the implementation of configurable workflow automation to ensure the platform reflected Pacific Life’s operational requirements while minimizing disruption during the transition.

By focusing on collaboration throughout the implementation, Pacific Life was able to transition to a straight-through lending platform designed around its existing business processes rather than forcing teams to adapt to rigid software limitations.

Results

Today, Pacific Life utilizes North Shore Systems’ end-to-end platform to support commercial real estate lending across the organization. By consolidating critical lending functions into a single configurable platform, Pacific Life benefits from:

  • A centralized system for managing the commercial lending lifecycle
  • Standardized workflows across departments
  • Improved collaboration and document management
  • Increased visibility into pipeline and portfolio activity
  • Centralized management of underwriting documentation, approvals, reporting, and borrower communications
  • Interactive dashboards and reporting that provide greater visibility into lending operations and portfolio performance
  • A scalable platform that can evolve with future business requirements

Pacific Life’s successful implementation demonstrates how configurable technology, combined with a collaborative implementation, can help lenders modernize operations while supporting long-term growth.
